February 19

Here is the latest UM Chapter of WEF News!

 Friday 3/1 1:00pm.

 The Env. Engineering Dept is hosting seminar on "Env. Engineering projects at C3T3(a Consulting Engineering Company): The REal World - What to Expect" The presentation is at 1:00-2:00pm, in room MCA 202.

 Saturday 3/2 8:45am. We are going on a tour of the Holloywood Water Treatment Plant. We are meeting at the fountain (outside the engineering building) at 8:45 am. IF you would like to attend please rsvp, by emailing us at umfwea@coeds.eng.miami.edu or talk to Jeff Rogers.

 Saturday 3/9 and Sunday 3/10 WE are going camping in the everglades (long Pine Key). We will be exploring the park and the surroundings and having a relaxing break from school. Consider joining us on this tour of the everglades with our own world traveled fearless guide Dr. E. Free to members as everything is! Please rsvp to Gary Jacobi at g.jacobi@umiami.edu.

 3/22 Speakers from SFWMD. We will be hosting Dr. Jayantha Obeysekera, Division Director for Hydrologic Systems Modeling at the District, will give a presentation on the various types of models the they use (regional and sub-regional) and an explanation of the hydrologic conditions that define South Florida.

 looking ahead friday 4/12 we will have a presentation from past UM WEF chapter president Walter Wilcox on projects he has been working on and the applications of hydrology learned in school to everyday Env. Engineering situatons.

 The NEXT MEETING is on TUESDAY MARCH 5th at 4:30 pm in room EB 113.

 NEXT MEETING on TUESDAY Feb 19th at 4:30 pm in room MCA 202

 Speakers - Friday March 22nd April 12th . Representative from SFWMD will be here to give presentation by Dr. Jayantha Obeysekera, Division Director for Hydrologic Systems Modeling at the District, will give a presentation on various types of models they use (regional and sub-regional) and Walter Wilcox, Hydrologic Engineer with the Hydrologic Systems Modeling, Graduate from UM Environmental and Civil Engineering, EX- WEF chapter president, will give a presentation on application of their models to help in the planning of both daily operations and long term projects (e.g. CERP). 

Camping - Gary had sent emails about the trip on Saturday March 9-10 in the everglades. RSVP to Gary at g.jacobi@umiami.edu

Trips - we are working with Dr. Blouetcher on touring the WTP in Hollywood with the INtro to Env. Engineering class. This will be in March, stay tuned.
