Who funds TRI research?
TRI is funded by Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institutes, National Institutes of Health, March of Dimes, Biotone and other companies.
Does TRI provide educational programs, seminars, etc.?
TRI offers a two-day workshop ($500), once a month (except August and December) that teaches the methods TRI uses to conduct its research studies. This workshop, currently held at the UM TRI, gives attendees hands-on experience in various ongoing programs and offers 12 CEUs. Each spring, TRI also holds the annual Touch Research Symposium. This provides a forum for researchers and therapists to share their ideas and discuss topics on touch therapy. In addition, attendees will receive 6 CEUs for this annual event.
Can I earn CEUs through TRI?
Yes. Those who attend the workshop will receive 12 CEUs, and 6 CEUs are available for the annual Touch Research Symposium. Registration is requested one month in advance. Please do not make your flight reservations until you have been confirmed for the workshop.
Does TRI provide grants for outside researchers?
Unfortunately not at this time.
Can I receive copies of the Newsletter & TRI studies?
A packet of 4 papers (selected from our list of studies that have been published) is available for $20. Past newsletters (packet of 4) are available for $20. Please use our order form on the last page of the touchpoints newsletter.
Does TRI offer massage therapy services?
Massage therapy is offered via the TRI Wellness Center at University of Miami School of Medicine. To schedule an appointment please call 305-243-6781.
