The University of Miami adopted as its first building the Anastasia Building, which was originally planned as a hotel and was located in the city of Coral Gables.

The first administrative and classroom buildings of the University of Miami were in an uncompleted hotel that had been leased by the University after receiving pledges of over $8 million.

The University, however, would not be able to open its doors anytime soon.
