President Donna E. Shalala is the former Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton.

Today, the University is led by its fifth and first female President, Donna E. Shalala.

It consists of five campuses and boasts one of the top Marine and Atmospheric Science programs in the world, the largest Medical Campus in the United States and a high ratio of domestic to international students. The Gables campus is consistently ranked one of the most beautiful in the country, and diversity among students is a top priority.
