Merrick’s dream of a great
city also included a great
university. In 1925, after
Merrick pledged $5 million and 160 acres of land,
the University of Miami received its charter and
a location: Coral Gables.
Located in the heart of Coral Gables, the University
of Miami is influenced by the diversity
of the city, and the city shares in the prestige
of the
University.
Thanks to its caring residents, Coral Gables continues
to grow, and the founders’ original intentions
have been expanded to create an even better city. Information
