was Ponce de Leon during his expedition.

However, the late 19th Century
was not the first time that people had enjoyed South
Florida.
Before Christopher Columbus discovered
the New World, the Tequesta
Indians benefited from South Florida life—abundant
food supplied from the land and sea that made agricultural
activities unnecessary.
