With more than 400 guests in attendance, the UM Alumni Association Homecoming Pregame Celebration was a great success! The event was fun and as always a true ’Cane spirited gathering, kicking off the Homecoming game.

Guests enjoyed reminiscing and reconnecting with friends, fabulous food and a spirited pep rally along with the Cheerleaders, Band of the Hour, Sebastian, and remarks and presentations from several special guests: President Shalala, Honorary Alumna ’02; Director of UM Athletics Blake James, President of the Alumni Association John Calles, A.B. ’89, J.D. ’92.

Following the Pregame Celebration, the Miami Hurricanes gave a valiant effort in the 2013 Homecoming Game against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Stephen Morris completed 16 of 29 passes for 324 yards for Miami. Morris had an 81-yard touchdown pass to Stacy Coley and an 84-yarder to Allen Hurns. Running back Dallas Crawford finished the game with 10 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown. After the Hurricanes took a 7-0 lead on the Morris-to-Coley completion, Miami was primed to get the ball back in Virginia Tech territory following a punt. But Coley fumbled it away at the Hokies' 45 - after getting hit by punter A.J. Hughes, no less. And five plays later, Virginia Tech scored its first of the night to tie the game.

Rain was falling steadily. Miami made many key mistakes in the game.

Playing without running back Duke Johnson, out for the season with a broken right ankle, Miami struggled offensively. Virginia Tech ran away with the victory 42-24.
