The eighth annual CGI U event will take place in March 2015.
President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will host the eighth annual Clinton Global Initiative University meeting March 6-8, 2015 at the University of Miami.
The meeting will bring together more than 1,000 innovative student leaders to make Commitments to Action in CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.
Through the CGI University Network and other opportunities, funding will be available to select CGI U 2015 students to help them turn their ideas into action.
“We are delighted to once again host the Clinton Global Initiative University on our campus. It is an honor to be the first school selected to host CGI U for a second time,” said UM President Donna E. Shalala. “As before, this conference will inspire young people from UM and from around the world to turn their ideas into action. CGI U attendees will take the lessons learned here and share them with other students back home—ensuring that the benefits of this meeting extend far beyond this event.”
UM hosted the third CGI U gathering in April 2010.
Students who participate in the 2015 meeting will have the opportunity to attend plenary sessions, working sessions, and other special events covering topics across CGI U’s five focus areas, allowing them to network with their peers, build skills, and identify potential partnerships. University representatives, topic experts, and celebrities will join students at CGI U to help them gain the skills and knowledge needed to take action on their commitments. During the last day of the meeting, attendees will take part in a Day of Action in the local community.
Students may now apply here. The UM preferred decision and funding assistance deadline is November 15, 2014, and the final application deadline is December 1, 2014.
Students interested in assisting with the CGIU conference as a volunteer, visit Student Volunteers, for more information. The deadline to volunteer is December 15th.
