Mark S. Soloway, M.D., professor and chair of urology, has been awarded the Presidential Citation by the American Urological Association. The award is given to individuals who have significantly promoted the treatment of urological diseases. Soloway was selected for his lifelong commitment to education in urologic oncology through case presentations and panel discussions.

Robert J. Myerburg, M.D., professor of medicine and physiology, received the American Heart Association’s inaugural Cor Vitae award, which was presented at the 40th annual Miami-Dade Heart Ball in June. Myerburg was selected as the first recipient for having “significantly influenced advancement in the field of cardiovascular diseases.” Myerburg is an internationally recognized expert on the mechanisms and clinical profiles of arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Ralph L. Sacco, M.D., M.S., Olemberg Family Chair in Neurological Disorders, Miller Professor of Neurology, Epidemiology and Human Genetics, and chair of neurology, has been inducted into the prestigious Association of American Physicians. Founded in 1885 for “the advancement of scientific and practical medicine,” its ranks have included Nobel laureates and members of the National Academy of Science and the Institute of Medicine.

Nanette Bishopric, M.D., professor of molecular and cellular pharmacology, received the Special Service Award from the Greater Southeast Affiliate of the American Heart Association during its leadership summit in St. Petersburg, Florida in June. The award is given annually to individuals who have shown exemplary support for the organization.
