Falcone Assumes Strategic Role

The growth of the University of Miami Medical Group (UMMG), which is more than 1,000 physicians strong, is now in the hands of Steven Falcone, M.D., M.B.A., associate professor of radiology, neurological surgery and ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Falcone is now serving as associate vice president for medical affairs, chief operating officer for UMMG, and associate executive dean for practice development. He had previously served as executive clinical dean for the regional campus of the Miller School in Boca Raton.

In his new position, Falcone will spearhead the strategic planning effort focused on the growth of UMMG while continuing a key role in the implementation of UChart, the electronic medical record system, and the establishment of a central billing office for UHealth – University of Miami Health System.

“In my new position, providing patient-centric care will be the primary principle that will drive all of our operational decisions,” Falcone said. “The patient will always come first, and improving the patient experience will be our top priority—especially when it comes to the access and coordination of care between our primary and specialty care physicians.”

Falcone is a devoted UM Hurricane: In addition to earning undergraduate, medical, and M.B.A. degrees from the University, he completed his residency in radiology and a fellowship in neuroradiology at UM/Jackson. He joined the UM faculty in 1992.
