The Miami Health District, home to the Miller School, six hospitals, and dozens of other medical entities, is one of the most concentrated centers of health care activity in the state. And much more is on the way.
With the construction of the University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park (LSTP) in high gear, the health district is on track to become a global center for medical, life science, and technology research. Last June UM finalized arrangements with the project’s developer, Wexford Miami, LLC, to lease 80,000 square feet of offices and labs in the park’s first building, which will also include the Miller School’s tissue bank. The 252,000-square-foot facility, the first phase of the LSTP, is slated for completion this summer. Located at the intersection of N.W. 20th Street and N.W. 7th Avenue, the facility will house wet and dry labs, offices, and lab-ready development suites and retail space for research teams advancing their work through collaboration with University faculty and industry.
