Sheri Keitz,
M.D., Ph.D., former vice chair for diversity in Duke
University’s Department of Medicine and associate
chief of staff for education at the Durham Veterans Affairs
Medical Center, is the new associate dean for faculty
diversity and development at the Miller School of Medicine.
She will also be chief of medicine at the Miami VA Medical
Center and an adviser on diversity to University President
Donna E. Shalala.
Keitz worked with Miller School Dean Pascal
J. Goldschmidt, M.D., when he was chairman of the Department
of Medicine
at Duke to implement progressive policies regarding faculty
development and equity.
Keitz received her medical degree from
Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and her doctorate
in pharmacology
from City University of New York. She completed her
medical training at Duke University Medical Center. She
was a
member of the Duke and the Durham VA Medical Center
faculty since
1996. A leader in clinical education, Keitz has received
numerous teaching awards and international recognition
for teaching evidence-based practice. |
